Isotopes Ball Park

Albuquerque, New Mexico

Baseball has been part of Albuquerque’s identity for nearly a century, from the early days at Tingley Field to the beloved Dukes at Albuquerque Sports Stadium. When the Dukes departed in the late 1990s, the City of Albuquerque recognized the need for a new ballpark—one that could bring professional baseball back while offering fans a major-league experience.

Completed in 2003, Isotopes Park has become one of SMPC’s flagship projects and a defining landmark in New Mexico. Designed in collaboration with HOK Sport, the ballpark blends modern amenities with the cultural and natural influences of the Southwest. With 11,000 seats, 30 luxury suites, open concourses, and a vibrant outfield experience, the stadium provides an unmatched fan environment.

The design draws inspiration from the layered mesas and vibrant colors of New Mexico’s landscape. Its exterior incorporates textured masonry, stucco bands, and glowing glass panels that create a dynamic presence by day and night. Shading canopies, festive graphics, and ceremonial circular entry trellises further root the stadium in local traditions.

More than just a venue, Isotopes Park has become a community hub—hosting minor league baseball, regional tournaments, and more recently serving as the interim home of New Mexico United, the state’s professional soccer club.

For over 20 years, the ballpark has stood as a testament to the power of thoughtful design in shaping community identity, celebrating the spirit of New Mexico through sport, culture, and place.
