Estancia Elementary School

Estancia, New Mexico

SMPC partnered with the Estancia Municipal School District and the New Mexico Public Schools Facility Authority (PSFA) to develop a comprehensive plan for consolidating the community’s Lower and Upper Elementary schools into a single, modernized campus. Serving the small rural town of Estancia, NM—where schools play a central role in community life—this project is designed to improve safety, efficiency, and access to quality educational spaces.

Through a series of collaborative workshops, stakeholder meetings, and site studies, SMPC worked closely with district leadership, faculty, and PSFA to identify the district’s unique needs and priorities. The resulting plan calls for the demolition of the outdated Lower Elementary building, renovation and expansion of the Upper Elementary, and the construction of a new Multipurpose Building to serve both the school and the broader community. Site improvements will enhance circulation, playground safety, parking, and community access while preserving valued features such as mature shade trees.

We value the dedication of school administrators, teachers, and staff in rural New Mexico communities like Estancia, who work tirelessly to provide equitable learning opportunities for their students. We also recognize the ongoing commitment of PSFA in supporting projects like this—investments that enhance both education and community life across the state.
