The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) Southwest Chapter Connect4 biennial event benefits a local non-profit organization. In 2015, the Albuquerque City Center selected the Albuquerque Youth Symphony Program (AYSP). For 60 years, AYSP has provided high-quality music education and performance experience to thousands of students in the Albuquerque area. What began in 1955 as a single orchestra has steadily and sustainably grown to serve over 550 students annually. Hundreds of students in grades 3-12 audition each season for placement in one of the program’s 13 ensembles for strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, guitars, and chorus. The chosen project renovated the facility’s large entrance hall where students and parents are welcomed every day. The project gained much notoriety generating numerous sponsorships from industry partners and the local community. SMPC was one of the donors as well as contributed hours of time and labor to this deserving project.
