SMPC Architects Recognized with Platinum Level Family Friendly Business Award®

SMPC Architects has been recognized with the Platinum level distinction by  Family Friendly New Mexico, marking the firm’s tenth consecutive year receiving the Family Friendly Business Award®. After nine years of Gold level recognition, 2026 represents an important milestone—and an opportunity to reflect on how the firm continues to evolve in support of its people.

Family Friendly New Mexico plays a meaningful role in that process. The organization provides practical guidance, resources, and accountability for businesses across the state, helping translate broad ideas about employee well-being into clear, actionable policies. Their work encourages companies to take a closer look at how workplace decisions impact not only employees, but also their families and communities.

Within that framework, SMPC has continued to refine its approach. Recent efforts include the introduction of a Paid Parental Leave program, offering up to eight weeks of paid leave at full salary following the birth, adoption, or foster placement of a child. The program is designed to be flexible and inclusive, supporting employees regardless of role or family structure.

Additional policies support a range of needs across different stages of life—paid time off that can be used for caregiving, health-focused benefits such as Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), and access to an Employee Assistance Program for staff and their families. Flexible scheduling and hybrid work options provide further adaptability, recognizing that balance looks different for each individual.

Equally important are the cultural elements that shape the day-to-day experience. Employee-led wellness workshops, opportunities for paid community involvement, and shared events that welcome families all contribute to a workplace that feels connected and sustainable over time. Small, consistent gestures—like a stocked breakroom with healthy options or gathering for a local game—help reinforce that sense of continuity between work and life outside the office.

This recognition is less about any single policy and more about an ongoing effort. The firm’s leadership continues to prioritize a workplace that is responsive, supportive, and grounded in trust—one that acknowledges employees as whole people.

The team looks forward to joining peers from across New Mexico at the awards banquet on April 30 at Sandia Resort and Casino.
