ABCWUA Customer Service & Operations Facility
Albuquerque, New Mexico
Located at the San Juan-Chama Surface Water Treatment Plant campus, the design of the new 50,000 SF Customer Service and Operations Facilities embodies an iconic image derived from the mesa and river land forms of the Rio Grande Valley. The new facility is the consolidation of the ABCWUA’s city-wide operations for improved efficiencies in their services and sustainability in their function. The long-range facility plan focuses on growth and enhanced productivity in providing water services to the Albuquerque metro area.
Operational goals include prioritized customer service, employee respect and communication, and sustainability of resources. The facility features a public customer service center including a call and dispatch center; associated operational management offices; support and training classrooms for field crews; maintenance shops; a warehouse; and a vehicle maintenance shop. Phased expansion of the campus includes a new Dewatering Building to improve the operation of the water treatment plant.
The new facility design supports ABCWUA’s mission to preserve and manage our precious resources by including demonstration gardens that display various zone options for low-water landscape solutions. Additionally, a new large six-megawatt photovoltaics solar system is being constructed over much of the parking areas. ABCWUA takes responsible action in utilizing this renewable energy resource to power the new buildings and part of the existing water treatment plant.
