“My fascination with architecture is born from the intricacy of the different layers of design – from the tangible to the intangible.”

Alex Nellos, AIA

Senior Associate / Architect

Born and raised in Albuquerque, Alex spent her adolescence and early-20’s living in her mother’s native country of Panama City, Panama.  She obtained her first two degrees in Panama and started her professional career overseeing the design and construction of various international projects.  After twelve years abroad, Alex returned to Albuquerque.  Alex has been with SMPC since May of 2018 and became a registered architect in New Mexico in 2022.  Alex excels in coordination, workflows, and attention to detail.

Alex’s dual life between the desert and the tropics enriched her existence and concept of place.  She comes from a family of designers and landscape architects that always blur the boundary between the interior and exterior.  Hiking, kayaking, and camping are activities always present in her family; family unity is celebrated throughout her Latin American and Greek heritages.  When she is not at work, Alex can be found at a cena familiar (family dinner), drinking coffee with her Papou, or exploring new lands with her huskies.
