“I am fascinated by design as a force of gravity or impulse to create and re-shape spaces and objects. Design is charting vision, harnessing beauty, experimenting with new possibilities, and opening a conduit to imagination as we endeavor to build in our three-dimensional world. “
Sarah Pulling, IIDA
Senior Associate / Licensed Interior Designer
Born and raised in the artist community of Silver City, New Mexico, Sarah was impacted by the pristine beauty found in the backcountry of the Gila Wilderness. She remembers fondly her first summer job experiences—clearing trails, cutting fallen trees with a crosscut saw, and fighting wildland fires with the Forest Service.
She completed her undergraduate work at TCU in Fort Worth, and then packed up for a journey abroad, as a sense of adventure and curiosity for other cultures led her to Argentina. She was intrigued by the adrenaline and cosmopolitan verve of Buenos Aires, but also enjoyed the quieter rhythm of life in the provincia outside the capital city. She volunteered with two different organizations that support marginalized children, studied drawing, worked in men’s fashion, and traveled every opportunity she could. After five years in Buenos Aires, Sarah returned to New Mexico and joined SMPC in 2008 where she continues her career in interior design. Sarah is passionate about light, sculpture, space, sustainability, and architectural form. She enjoys the process of building relationships and collaborating with clients and thrives on seeing the creation of three-dimensional objects born from the collaboration.
Up and out of the office, Sarah enjoys hiking to alpine lakes, soccer, brunch, and snowboarding with her kids.
